TEST your ENGLISH is a CD-Rom containing exercises designed to measure language skills, specifically for the use of companies and organisations. It can be used not only for personnel selection but also for evaluating the outcome of an English language course (pre-course assessment and post-course feedback). TEST your ENGLISH provides a quick and accurate measurement of candidates’ levels of ability, and is the ideal testing system for companies who run language courses for their employees.
Contents
The database for the test contains 240 exercises which are selected at random. Each test is made up of about 30 questions covering the three skill areas: listening, reading and grammar. The types of exercises are as follows:
Listening
- Listen and choose an answer
- Listen and choose a picture
- Listen to a text and choose answers
Reading
- Read and choose an answer
- Read a text and choose answers
Grammar
- Complete the sentences
- Fill the gap by choosing words
- Fill the gap by writing words

Personalisation
The CD-Rom can be personalised according to requirements. Some of the possible customised features are:
- Inserting your company’s logo on each page
- Personalising the home page and the registration page
- Regulating the time allowed for the test
- Expanding the database containing the exercises
- Personalising the feedback at the end of test
Feedback
At the end of the test, the student sees a screen displaying detailed feedback: an overall percentage score (0-100) divided into the three skills measured by the test (listening, reading and grammar), together with the student’s personal details taken from the registration page. The percentage score is also expressed on the CEF scale (Common European Framework) and the ALTE scale (Association of Language Testers in Europe) together with a “can-do-statement” for each level. From the feedback page, the student can review the test, archive the feedback in PDF format, or print the form.
